Position Overview:
The Demand Planner is responsible for developing, managing, and optimizing demand forecasts to ensure the efficient flow of products through the supply chain. This role works closely with procurement, logistics, operations, and inventory management teams to align supply and demand strategies, minimize stockouts, and optimize inventory levels.
Key Responsibilities:
Demand Planning: Develop and maintain accurate demand forecasts for products, ensuring alignment with sales, marketing, and supply chain objectives.
Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with procurement, logistics, and operations teams to balance supply and demand and maintain optimal inventory levels.
Data Analysis: Analyze historical sales data, trends, and market conditions to generate accurate demand forecasts and improve forecasting models.
Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with the procurement team to manage replenishment schedules, reducing excess inventory while ensuring product availability.
Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance forecasting accuracy and inventory turnover.
Reporting: Prepare and present reports on demand planning performance, highlighting key metrics, trends, and any supply chain disruptions.
Forward Thinking: Bring a proactive, solutions-oriented approach to demand planning, continuously seeking ways to improve planning processes and outcomes.
Cross-Functional Communication: Effectively communicate forecast adjustments and inventory needs to internal teams, including procurement, logistics, and operations, as well as external vendors.
Qualifications:
7+ years of experience in demand planning, forecasting, or related fields, preferably in the manufacturing or distribution industry.
Proven experience working in a mid- to large-size company, handling complex supply chain dynamics.
Strong understanding of inventory management, procurement, and logistics processes.
Hands-on approach with practical experience in managing inventory and working with cross-functional teams.
Skills:
Strong data analysis skills and ability to generate actionable insights from complex data sets.
Proficiency in demand planning software (SAP experience is a plus).
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across different teams and levels within the organization.
Strong problem-solving abilities and a forward-thinking, proactive mindset.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
Nice to Have: Experience with SAP or other demand planning tools.
