The VP of Engineering is accountable for developing and executing company strategic technical roadmap and product development plans to meet company objectives. The individual will also be accountable to lead all the company's agile product development activities, sustaining engineering initiatives, product technical certifications and be technical lead on companywide innovation programs. This role reports directly to our President and is a member of the senior leadership team of the company.
VP of Engineering Responsibilities
Drive process and execution improvements throughout the engineering organization
Build, develop, and lead the Engineering department to ensure that company goals and objectives are achieved
Conducts research to improve the technological assets of a company
Identifies competitive advantages and technological trends for the benefit of a company
Direct and lead a formal testing lab and product testing strategy
Develop, implement and execute the engineering business plan in concert with the corporate-wide business planning process including the annual engineering budget
Oversee and lead the execution of all new product development projects in accordance with Agile Methodology and New Product Introduction processes
Review product designs for feasibility, technical capabilities and manufacturability
Develop the company's strategy for using technological resources
Ensuring technologies are used efficiently, profitably and securely
Establish the annual engineering budget and performance measures
Evaluating and implementing new systems and infrastructure
Develop and support a culture of continuous improvement and best practices within the department and across the Company with time limitations and funding.
Develops a climate within the department to foster a high level of employee motivation, performance, and commitment. Oversees staffing plans and reviews work plans and schedules for each phase of a project in accordance with time limitations and funding.
Represents organization with major customers and stakeholders.
Investigate and provide technical and business analysis to support joint ventures, technical acquisitions and business acquisitions.
Develop an environment of continual improvement through the use of Lean tools
VP of Engineering Requirements
MS in Electrical Engineering preferred, BS in Electrical Engineering required
Minimum of 10 years in a leadership role
Experience in strategic planning and implementation required
Experience developing, launching and supporting an innovation pipeline alongside existing product upgrades required
Demonstrated ability to lead an agile new product development team, build cross-functional relationships and deliver results
Experience working with offshore vendors, suppliers and engineering resources
Strong computer skills required; proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and Microsoft Outlook
