Manage global inbound and outbound logistics system and processes for all plants, including policies and procedures, freight rates, preferred carrier lists, third party domestic TMS program and cost analysis. Development, implement and manage import and export compliance policies and procedures for all plants. Support upper management and sales with transportation analysis relating to new supply chains both domestic and foreign. Ensures optimum logistics methods are used to minimize costs, while maintaining compliance with all required customs regulations. Control costs utilizing preferential trade agreements, bonded warehouses, drawback and in-bond transportation for materials and finished products
Principal Accountabilities:
Plans and directs all aspects of an organization's import/export compliance programs and logistics management program.
Responsible for the coordination and completion of all government, regulatory, and compliance documents for all business units in an organization
Performs internal audits of compliance programs and manages required corrective actions.
Acts as Contact for US agency inquiries and responsible for responses and management of required corrective actions.
Lead role with HTS classifications and origin determination of components and finished assemblies.
Supports corporation for USMCA related trade in conjunction with other BAC staff and third party cross border services provider.
Develops policies and procedures for logistic processes in order to ensure optimization and compliance with established standards
Review records to ensure Global Trade Compliance standards and reporting are met.
Resolve issues or clear up discrepancies by regularly communicating with Maquila and/or other BAC locations
Negotiates, documents, and communicates freight rates for all divisions
Reports and drives all transportation Key Performance Indexes (KPI) (i.e. freight/expedite spend, cost-savings programs, etc.)
Analyzes freight costs to monitor execution of preferred rates and methods
Control costs utilizing preferential trade agreements, bonded warehouses , drawback and in-bond transportation for materials and finished products and work with Finance to provide monthly reports and detailed analyses of inbound and outbound logistics and freight costs.
Optimizes transportation costs - continuously assess transportation cost for process, mode, and carrier cost reductions.
Manages third party TMS program.
Manages and audits freight expenses and freight payment service including monthly reconciliation of G/L accounts and freight spend with accounting
Manages/authorizes critical expedited freight as required.
Supports special projects and capital equipment moves as needed.
Reports transportation costs and capacity trends and forecasts.
Maintains awareness of the relevance and importance of activities and how each contributes to achieving quality objectives.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Transportation Management, or Operations Management degree preferred.
7+ years of professional work experience in import/export compliance and logistics, including domestic and international transportation.
Proven experience with logistics quoting and management of logistics requirements
Knowledge of US Customs requirements required.
USMCA experience required
Customs Broker License preferred
Maquila experience preferred
Cross-border experience (US to CA and US to MX) preferred
SAP ERP experience preferred
