General Description:
A business development professional is involved in identifying opportunities for business and market growth while optimizing marketing strategies.
The business development professional may coordinate with company executives, sales and marketing professionals, customers, and potential customers.
The goal as a business development professional is to help the company achieve its long-term goals and expand into new markets.
This position will be assigned oversight and responsibility for managing all quotes, orders, and projects accepted by Western Utility Telecom, Inc. (Hereinafter, WUT) for specific customers.
As a business development professional, you will have a direct responsibility to, in cooperation with sales management, provide day-to-day oversight on all quotes, projects, and orders entered into WUT's sales and production cycle.
This position must ensure that while managing these quotes and projects, that all key information essential to the successful completion of the quote and project is gathered, documented, and scheduled timely and accurately.
Daily tasks include, but are not limited to, working directly with Sales, Engineering, Drafting, Purchasing, Production, Quality Control, Project Management, and Shipping to develop and monitor a predictable schedule that serves the customer's needs and ensures delivery of the assigned product(s) on time and on budget.
Essential Functions/Major Duties include but are not limited to the following:
Will use appropriate software tools to develop a schedule that will accurately predict the delivery of key information critical to the successful production of the product(s).
Work with the Project Manager to establish a delivery date on all orders and projects.
Maintain, manage and update WUT's POS spreadsheet (Quotes and Orders Schedule).
In cooperation with the WUT Opportunity Review Team; Review customer specifications, drawings and requirements at estimate and order stage.
Identify information and specifications essential for the WUT team to develop and complete fabrication and installation drawings, and to complete a successful quality driven product.
Work as part of the Company's Product Development Team.
Identify information and specifications on the type and source of materials required in the product(s)
Provide clarity on when the customer needs part/all the product(s).
Work with the estimators to provide costs associated with timely delivery of the product(s)
Complete weekly/monthly/yearly reports.
Facilitate problem solving with the various departments of the Company that are engaged in the Company's Product Development Cycle, to ensure the Company meets its delivery commitments.
Handles customer inquiries, qualifies customers for short/long-term needs.
Coordinates with Production and Project Management to identify accurate product delivery projections.
Provide technical assistance via phone and e-mail.
Other tasks as defined by the President, General Manager, and/or Sales Manager.
Secondary Functions:
Travel to see account contacts and/or actual job sites. (Up to 30%)
Occasionally work with customers on job specifications.
Attend conferences and training when assigned.
Job Scope:
This job has recurring work situations with occasional variations from the norm. Duties involve a moderate degree of complexity with customers and the company's product development cycle team. The position can expect a need to equitably reconcile competing interests for time and resources between managers of the departments in the product development cycle to ensure the customer's needs are met. There may be stressful situations. Duties are performed under the direct supervision of the Sales Manager with established procedures and guidelines. Errors in accuracy, judgment, service, and level of professionalism affect the smooth and efficient operation of the product development cycle, ultimately impacting the profitability of the company as well as customer and staff trust levels.

As Delegated by the President, General Manager, and /or Sales Manager.

Contacts are made both inside and outside the company. Internal contacts will include the sales team, the product development cycle team, and the entire staff at various times. External contacts include customers and suppliers.

Ability to work with tight time frames under pressure.
Knowledge of Telecommunications and Utility Industries.
Ability to set up and use spreadsheets, word-processing programs, project management software, and Sales order/BOM software.
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Sales and Marketing (Preferred)
Associate degree or equivalent experience in Sales and Marketing (Required)
5 or more years of sales experience (Preferred)
Experience utilizing Microsoft Word, Spreadsheets, Presentation Tools, etc.
Experience utilizing Sales Force or NetSuite/Oracle programs preferred.
Job Conditions:
Clean office in a manufacturing environment and/or remote environment.
Hours may exceed more than 40 per week especially during peak times or while traveling to meet with customers.
Compensation
Yearly Salary plus Commissions.
