Job Description Summary
Sets up and operates variety of machine tools, and fits and assembles parts to fabricate or repair machine tools and maintain industrial machines by performing the following duties.
Job Description
Individuals in this position must:
Participate in the safety engagement process. This includes giving I Care huddles, conducting area assessments, and addressing all safety concerns with the Production Team Lead.
Observes and listens to operating machines or equipment to diagnose machine malfunction and determine need for adjustment or repair.
Dismantles machine or equipment to examine parts for defects or to remove defective part.
Replaces defective part with new part.
Assembles and test operates machine to verify correction of malfunction.
Performs maintenance on and cleans pieces of equipment.
Keep daily logs and records all pertinent information (any foreign material found, defects in equipment, shut downs, etc.)
Actively engaged in safety, participating in safety programs, engaged in safety activities, perform risk assessments and demonstrating ownership as well as leadership in personal safety and the safety of other team members.
Report all incidents, near misses, and any safety concerns.
Other duties may be assigned.

Must meet Sanitation qualification requirements
Must be forklift certified. If not, must meet requirements to become forklift certified.
Able to have good work performance
Able to operate all blade sharpening equipment, and controls in area of responsibility.
Willing to help train new employees in the Blade Sharpener position
Able to effectively communicate in English verbally and in writing.
Read, understand, and obey all plant rules and practice safety as outlined in the employee handbook.
Be conscientious and consistent in his/her work
Practice proper body mechanics and safe lifting techniques.
Be knowledgeable of the potential hazards and safety procedures associated with the task being performed.
Actively practice and abide by all Company work, safety, and personal hygiene rules and regulations as outlined in the employee handbook.
Understand and follow lock out/tag out procedures.
Possess a working knowledge of how the equipment works
Education
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
Skills
Effectively communicate in English verbally and in writing. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

Will regularly work near moving mechanical parts.
Will frequently be exposed to moderately cold surroundings.
Will occasionally be exposed to humid conditions as well as moderate heat.
