Olympic College is seeking to hire a full-time Exempt Director of System Administration. This lead position oversees the management, maintenance, and enhancement of the organization's IT infrastructure, ensuring all systems' optimal performance, security, and availability. This role requires strong leadership to manage a team of system administrators, strategic planning to meet evolving business needs, and expert-level knowledge of system architecture and cloud infrastructure. The Director will collaborate with various departments to deliver scalable, reliable, and secure IT solutions while ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.Essential Functions
Lead the IT System Administration team in designing, deploying, maintaining, and optimizing all servers, networks, storage, and cloud services.
Develop and implement strategies for infrastructure growth, ensuring scalability and high availability to support organizational objectives.
Oversee the daily operations of IT systems, including server management, networking, virtualization, and storage solutions, ensuring minimal downtime and proactive issue resolution.
Establish and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans, including backup solutions and regular testing.
Monitor system performance and security and ensure data privacy regulations (GDPR, HIPAA, etc.) compliance.
Lead projects integrating new technologies and systems, ensuring alignment with business goals.
Develop and manage the IT budget for system administration, balancing cost control with the need for innovation and system improvements.
Collaborate with other departments to ensure IT systems meet business needs and provide technical expertise for cross-departmental projects.
Implement security measures to safeguard critical IT systems from cyber threats and unauthorized access.
Maintain and enforce system use, data access, and security policies.
Lead, mentor, and manage a team of IT professionals, fostering growth, training, and high performance.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field
5+ years of experience in IT system administration, with at least five years in a leadership or managerial role.
Proven experience with large-scale IT infrastructure, virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V), cloud services (e.g., AWS, Entra), and enterprise-level storage solutions.
Expertise in cybersecurity protocols, with hands-on experience in threat detection and incident response.
Experience implementing automation and orchestration tools for infrastructure management, improving efficiency, and reducing manual intervention.
Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator/Architect
Certified Information Technology Manager (CITM)
AWS Certified Solutions Architect
