The MS in Social Policy Program at the University of Pennsylvania's School of Social Policy & Practice (SP2) seeks to hire two to three postdoctoral fellows in applied critical data science. We are interested in scholars with a background in data science, computational social science, computational linguistics, societal computing, or other related areas and are doing research on the intersections of critical theory and policy studies. The program is looking for scholars who are informed by or engage critical data studies, critical race and digital studies, new media studies, platform studies, Black radical thought, Black feminism, queer and trans studies, indigenous studies, critical posthumanisms, critical disability studies, affect theory, among other areas of critical scholarship. In addition, we are interested in scholars who do work on various areas of policy research, governmentality, data and tech policy, biopolitics, the intersections of data science with social work and/or public health, and criminal justice among other areas. Global scholarship is also of strong interest though not required. Candidates may also have an opportunity to participate the Institute in Critical Quantitative, Computational & Mixed Methodologies as well as the exciting and developing new initiative, the Partnership for Social and Economic Mobility.
In addition to maintaining a research program, postdoctoral fellows will be required to teach two courses per year, of the following courses, offered in Fall 2021 and Spring 2022.

Postdoctoral Fellows will be expected to relocate to the Philadelphia area and be available to teach courses in-person. Pay is competitive and health insurance is paid 100% by the university.
A PhD is required, preferably in a relevant computational, social science and/or policy field with an emphasis on data science and statistical methods. Please provide a (no longer than 3-page) cover letter that includes both a research and teaching statement, curriculum vitae, teaching evaluations for two to three courses from prior teaching (if available), and a list of three references.
