Tenure faculty (regardless of rank) - persons with the titles of professor, associate professor, assistant professor and instructor who serve on appointments totaling 50% or more service to the university and who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. Duties and responsibilities are assigned in accordance with the workload guidelines laid out in the pattern of administration of each faculty member's tenure initiation unit (TIU) and, as appropriate, regional campus; obligations will include research, service and/or teaching or clinical practice. These faculty will have earned doctorate or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study or possession of equivalent experience.
Tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases; serves as Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator on sponsored research grants and on original research projects; conceptualizes, plans, designs, implements and conducts research studies in the area of Mycobacterium tuberculosis and/or other pathogens of public health significance, including drug susceptibility testing, drug resistance, vaccine development, cancer treatment and other areas of complex research; develops and writes grant proposals to seek and obtain funding to support research program; secures and maintains NIH RO1 or equivalent funding; writes and publishes research in high quality peer reviewed, scientific journals; attends and makes presentations of research at national and international scientific conferences; develops national and international scholarly reputation; instructs and mentors junior scientists, doctoral and postdoctoral students, medical students, residents and fellow trainees; participates in division, department, college and university committees and initiatives.
