Laboratory/Research Technician

Facilitate projects regarding the molecular basis of cardiac and skeletal muscle diseases. Perform complex laboratory functions in support of university research. Responsibilities will include the application of wet chemical techniques to digest muscle samples in preparation for mass spectrometry. Upon sample analysis, responsibilities will include preprocessing of mass spectrometry data using Proteome Discoverer and postprocessing of these data in RStudio. This will require the ability to modify preexisting code and write new code de novo. Secondary responsibilities will include the extraction of quantitative data from fluorescence images and postprocessing of these data in RStudio. Required to write comprehensive notes regarding procedures and corresponding sections for publications.
Bachelor degree in biology, biochemistry, chemistry or related field. Experience in wet chemical techniques, and the use of Proteome Discoverer to process mass spectrometry data, and ability to modify and write code in RStudio.
Ability to work independently and effective communication and organizational skills required.

$20-$22/hour
Contingent on continued funding, External candidates must complete a 4-month probationary period, A probationary period may be required for current UVM employees, Bargaining unit position, This position is ineligible for telework due to the essential functions, Background Check required for this position
