Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) or Medical Assistant (MA) or Central Sterile preferred, but not required.
Must be enrolled in a Surgical Technologist course within two years of hire. (tuition assistance may be applicable when eligible)

Current BCLS certification required within 30 days of hire.

PART TWO: FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITY
Position Objective
ENDO TECH:
The Endoscopy Technician under the direction of registered nurse and/or surgeon is an integral member of the endoscopy team by performing a variety of duties which assist the surgeon in carrying out a safe endoscopy procedure with optimal results for the patient.
OR SECOND SCRUB:
The Surgical Assistant, under the direction of a Surgical Technologist and/or surgeon will assist during surgical procedures by holding extremities or holding retractors. The Surgical Assistant also participates in the stocking of supplies within the department; performs general housekeeping duties, including the turnaround of rooms between cases; and movement of equipment to the O.R.'s.
Performance Expectation
ENDO TECH:
Facilitates patient care during admission, procedural and recovery phases.
Assists under the direct supervision of the physician with diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures including specimen collection and handling.
Maintain inventories of endoscopic equipment and supplies.
Perform safety checks to verify proper equipment functioning.
Prepares room according to endoscopic procedure requirements.
Cleans and disinfects scopes or other endoscopic instruments according to manufacturer recommendations and facility standards.
Returns endoscopes equipment to the appropriate storage place, cleans and ensures transport of certain items to the Central Sterile area
Maintain endoscopic equipment and reports malfunctioning endoscopes and equipment to appropriate individuals and completes repair requests. Documents repairs and arranges for shipping of endoscope and obtain loaner endoscope as necessary.
Position or transport patients in accordance with instructions from medical personnel.
Responsible for turnover of procedure rooms.
Participates in reporting quality measures.
Effectively communicates with patients, their families, and members of the team in a positive and supportive manner.
Provides back-up support for clerical staff.
Provides back-up support to department clinical areas.
Perform other related duties as appropriate to this position.
OR SECOND SCRUB
Assists surgeon as second scrub person according to prescribed standards.
Scrubs and dons gown and gloves in accordance with performance standards.
Assists with draping as directed by the Surgical Technologist or surgeon.
Assists surgeon by holding extremity
Assists surgeon by holding retractors
Maintains aseptic technique at all times as dictated by standard procedure.
Assists in application of dressing, casts, and in moving of patient as directed.
Assists with the operating room cleaning and room turnaround between cases.
Aids in pick surgical cases and returning supplies.
Gathers and makes available all necessary supplies according to the needs of patient and surgical team.
Assists with obtaining/returning special equipment before, during and after procedure.
Responds immediately when called upon for additional or emergency service.
Stock linen warmers and supplies as needed.
Transport specimens to specified locations as directed by the charge nurse.
Perform other related duties as appropriate to this position.
