Overview

We are seeking a full-time Printed Circuit Board Designer 1 in our Olathe, KS and our Cary, NC location. In this role, you will be responsible for creating well-defined moderately complex Printed Circuit Board (PCB) designs based on schematics and input from Design Engineers.

Essential Functions

• Partner with Product Design Engineers and Mechanical Engineers to produce moderately complex PCB Designs


• Provide feedback to Design Engineers as needed to ensure manufacturability is maintained in each design


• Suggest options when faced with challenging PCB Design situations


• Attend engineering design reviews and act on decisions made there


• Plan technical work and estimate completion times for PCB designs


• Serve as a mentor to PCB Design Assistant as needed


• Demonstrate full understanding and use of Garmin design standards and procedures


• Utilize a basic knowledge of PCB manufacturing processes


• Maintain a sense of urgency, commitment, and focus on the right priorities in each PCB Design

Other Responsibilities

• Perform eCAD librarian duties as needed

Basic Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Electronics Technology or related field OR a minimum of 2 years relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience


• Demonstrated ability to read schematics


• Demonstrated proficiency using personal computers and Microsoft Office applications

Desired Qualifications

• Experience with Cadence Allegro


• Working knowledge of PCB manufacturing processes


• Working knowledge of all types of electronic components


• Working knowledge of electronic circuits theory of operation
