Job Description Summary: The Lead Estimator works closely with project operation teams, architects, subcontractors, and clients to deliver precise and detailed project cost projections to ensure profitable bids. They communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure alignment on project requirements and expectations.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Key Responsibilities:
Able to perform all essential Estimator responsibilities.
Supports with mentoring and training estimating staff, interns, and project engineers.
Leads and supports one or more estimates/pursuits. Coordinates and oversees activities and deliverables of assigned estimates.
Leads bid day compilation, coordinating bid day activities, and executing deliverables.
Prepares competitive bids ensuring they meet contract requirements and specifications.
Prepare conceptual estimates and generate scope sheets.
Prepares accurate quantity takeoffs and develop accurate pricing for materials, labor, and equipment.
Analyze trade partner estimates and scopes for gaps and improvement opportunities.
Generate high-level value engineering/value management items with accuracy.
Identify and raise risk/concerns early on to mitigate and prevent future issues.
Negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers to secure favorable terms, pricing, and conditions.
Serve as liaison for subcontractors, oversee prequalification, and ensure they receive updated documents and information in a timely manner.
Conduct site visits to gather essential information and assess conditions affecting cost.
Follows bid schedule and realign deliverable dates with minimal impact.
Assist with post-bid buy out and cost-related issues or questions.
Participate and lead estimating and proposal meetings. (go/no go, self-perform strategy, etc.)
Maintain databases updated with comprehensive records of estimates/costs for future reference.
Assist with preconstruction and business development activities as assigned.
Maintain good relationship with suppliers and subcontractors; participate in outreach and/or industry events to develop networks.
Complete other responsibilities as assigned.
MINIMUM SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field; or equivalent working experience.
Minimum 3-5 years of construction related experience, including experience in Estimating specific role.
Working knowledge and understanding of Estimating process and procedures. (quantity takeoffs, purchasing accounting; engineering design knowledge and project management experience desirable)
Able to lead and/or oversee multiple estimates.
Ability to read and understand specifications and drawings.
Ability to make accurate judgments and calculations.
Knowledge of construction costs and principles
Understands unit pricing and connectivity.
Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
Ability to effectively communicate with clients and project teams.
Knowledge and experience with estimating software such as BuildingConnected Bluebeam, Revit, Destini, or other programs to complete daily duties, preferred.
Microsoft 360 Suite, strong Excel skills.
