Robinson Paving Company, a division of the Scruggs Company, is searching for a Pipe Foreman in the Columbus area. We are a heavy civil contractor working in the commercial site work and public infrastructure of the Columbus area. Pay will be commensurate with experience; all employees are eligible for benefits such as health, dental, and vision insurance. All candidates must have a valid driver's license with positive driving history.
Job Duties:
Perform all duties within the guidelines set forth in the policies and procedures manual.
Create an atmosphere whereby subordinates are encouraged to improve their skill and maintain a high level of moral for themselves and other employees.
See that your crew starts working on time and ensure that they work the number of hours for which they are paid.
Assist and direct your crew in the following areas: using equipment in a safe and proper manner, improving job performance, controlling cost and quality of work, increasing productivity, improving communications, and housekeeping of project.
Participate in the periodical evaluation of all assigned personnel, discussing their contributions to the company, their development and possible pay adjustments.
Supervise and direct the activities of assigned personnel in the performance of their duties directing and instructing them in their proper operation, technique, use and maintenance of equipment.
See that all new personnel receive proper orientation to acquaint them with the company, policies, safety and their job responsibilities.
Develop a cooperative working relationship with your crew, seeking their comments and suggestions.
Cooperate with the human resources department and risk management department being knowledgeable as to all aspects of EEO and safety responsibilities. Comply with these requirements and insist upon compliance among all subordinates.
Conduct a continuous evaluation of the following items: cost and yields, material yields, plants and schedules, salaries, promotions, job assignments, equipment needs, personnel needs, on the job training program. Quality control, relate any problems, changes or recommendations to the superintendent.
Ensure all work undertaken complies with all local laws, ordinances and EPA regulations concerning the lay down of Utility / Pipeic materials and related activities.
Maintain close contact and a good working relationship with the general public engineers' inspections, and customers to facilitate job progress and promote a positive company image, develop a courteous and considerate attitude of assigned personnel towards these groups.
Assist with equipment inspections, request maintenance and repair crew as needed.
Review all required daily reports, verify their correctness, and transmit promptly to the operations manager.
Maintain a daily log recording important conversations and events which could be used for future referencing and maintain daily logs/diary.
Experience:
At least 2 years' experience and does not have to be heavy civil
Must have underground utility experience
