As a Business Data Engineer, you will analyze strategic data needs across the business; to design, develop, implement, and support big data pipelines from ingestion to visualization; to oversee governance of enterprise terms, data, and reporting; and to consult across the business on the use of data and data technologies (preparation and visualization) across the business. This position requires analytical skills, creativity, and an application of varied and advanced on-premise and cloud technologies.
Responsibilities:
responsible for technical business analysis with a heavy focus on analytical data asset management and the goal of establishing high-quality authoritative, analytical data assets, as well as engaging the business in active ownership and management of these data assets which will be used by cross-functional decision makers up to and including Publix executives
responsible for designing, developing, implementing, supporting, and managing big data pipelines using cloud technologies to automate the movement, transformation, exposure, security, and visualization of analytical data. On the business (non-IT) side, the incumbent is a SME on big data pipelines and data transformation for all types of business data into the cloud
responsible for monitoring and maintaining the strategies, definitions, processes, and implementation of the Publix business data governance strategy in alignment with overall Publix and Analytics/Data as a Service (AaaS/DaaS) vision and strategy.
responsible for developing, standardizing, monitoring, guiding, and advising on the use of business intelligence at Publix.
In Publix's corporate offices, we value in-person interactions, similar to those our store associates have with customers. Many of Publix's corporate offices offer work from home up to two days a week. Each business area implements their policy differently and should be discussed during interviews.
Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or similar technical discipline, ability to quickly develop an understanding of new information, processes, and technologies
Two years of cloud data engineering, IT systems development, IT systems analysis, BI development, or data governance
technical knowledge of how to work with structured data (tables, views, queries, DDL vs DML) as well as semi-structured data (csv, json, etc. in blob storage)
knowledge of business analysis (term definition, processes modeling, documenting controls, etc.) and translating analysis into system or process requirements
