Des Moines Public Schools is actively seeking a Manager of Network Operations to lead the Network Infrastructure team. This role is instrumental in crafting the vision and strategy necessary to implement cutting-edge services that underpin our educational framework. The manager will guarantee that our IT infrastructure is both secure and efficient, thereby directly supporting our mission to enhance student learning.
This position entails not only the design, maintenance, and optimization of critical network and server infrastructure but also the integration of cloud services and advanced telecommunications systems. The role requires independent judgment to navigate the complexities of IT operations and infrastructure management effectively.
The Manager will engage closely with school administrators, educators, and district partners to synchronize technology initiatives. Leading a dedicated team responsible for daily IT operations, the Manager will ensure that both teachers, staff, and students receive prompt support. This role also involves developing IT operational policies tailored to our unique educational environment and evaluating team performance while managing vendor relationships.
The comprehensive management of the IT budget is a vital responsibility. The Manager will work towards decreasing manual workloads by driving infrastructure automation and will oversee the implementation of technology roadmaps to support future growth. A commitment to improving IT resilience is central to this role, with a strong focus on creating and maintaining disaster recovery and business continuity plans that align with the needs of the education sector.
The ideal candidate will keep abreast of industry trends and recommend the incorporation of innovative technologies that enhance our operational capabilities. They will lead the development of strategic vendor partnerships to boost service capacity while actively promoting a culture of continuous improvement within the team.
HIRING SPECIFICATIONS:
Required: A bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, business management, or a similar field, alongside experience in managing IT operations in a public school environment. Familiarity with vendor negotiations involving providers such as Granite Communications and BlackBox will be advantageous.
Desired: A master’s degree or relevant technical credentials.
