This is a full-time hourly role (8am-4:45pm) for a Junior Kindergarten Assistant at Mission Hills School located in Castro Valley, CA. The Assistant will be responsible for performing various tasks on a daily basis. This includes (but not limited to) supporting the primary Jr. K teacher, welcoming/getting the students settled into the classroom every morning, substituting (if needed), helping kids when they have a potty accident, running study hall, leading circle time, planning crafts & art activities, and overseeing the students during recess, etc. This position involves being actively on your feet for long durations while overseeing children. Key Responsibilities:
Provide support to the Junior Kindergarten Teacher
Supervise students during classroom activities, recess, electives, and other school-related events, etc.
Required to be on your feet for extended periods while supervising children
Help with classroom setup and cleanup
Tend to students when they are sick, misbehaving, injured, or need assistance, etc.
Make copies for classwork/homework
Lead morning drop-off (if needed)
File and/or shred student paperwork
Keen attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Attend staff meetings and trainings as required
Qualifications:
High school diploma is required
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (preferred but not required)
Previous experience working with young children (preferably in a Jr. K or early childhood setting)
Ability to multitask, work independently, and work well in a team
First Aid and CPR certification & Mandated Reporting Certification (or willingness to obtain)
