The Protein Engineering Group (PEG) combines genomic analysis, activity-based screening, protein characterization and optimization to deliver novel insect control and herbicide resistant traits. The PEG lab technician will be a key contributor to our research team that supports Biotechnology discovery and pipeline advancement.
Educational Qualifications:
BS/BA in molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related discipline with 1+ years of relevant research experience.
Responsibilities:
PCR, cloning, mutagenesis, DNA purification, sequencing, and transformation/transduction
Perform sequence analyses and database searches using Geneneious and other internal molecular biology and bioinformatics tools
Use liquid handler
Conduct various assays to characterize proteins
Assist with equipment maintenance
Written and verbal communication of plans, procedures, and results
Competencies and Qualifications:
Self motivated and interest to learn new things
Knowledge of molecular biology methods including cloning, mutagenesis, DNA purification, bacterial cell culture, PCR, and sequencing
Ability to design primers, plasmid constructs, and libraries
Aptitude to design, optimize, and run plate-based assays in a high-throughput manner
Familiarity with bioinformatics sequence analysis tools like BLAST
Experience using a plate reader for assays
Database management experience
Knowledge in method development validation processes
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Familiarity with protein expression and purification is a plus
