Reporting to the Process Engineering Manager, the Process Engineer (Spring Coiling) plans, directs and coordinates Spring Coiling manufacturing processes by providing technical support, and maintenance of manufacturing methods by performing the following duties in the manufacturing phase of the product lifecycle.
What a typical day looks like:
You will be responsible for the spring coiling lines used to produce metal springs for a medical device.
Responsible for ensuring flawless, safe, and compliant operation of the different coiling lines.
Participate in requirement definition, concept design of new equipment, design reviews, acceptance testing (including review and approval of relevant documents), and the development of training plans and material for operators and technicians.
Develop operational procedures and instructions, and service and maintenance plans in close collaboration with equipment suppliers, technicians, and operators.
Contribute to validation approach: write test and validation protocols and reports as well as support the execution of tests and validation activities.
Understand manufacturing and test equipment concepts, technologies, and techniques.
Designs manufacturing processes within schedule and budgetary parameters.
Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods.
Define equipment maintenance requirements, identify root causes of equipment failures, and develop hands-on maintenance skills.
Work with other engineering stakeholders and customers on problem solving and continuous improvement to the design of equipment and products and may develop corrective and preventive action plans.
Requirements:
5+ years of experience with spring coil manufacturing (heat treating of spring coils, spring feeding, spring handling, and other related processes).
Experience working with Equipment Suppliers and Vendors, selecting equipment, equipment installation, validation, sustaining support, and maintenance of equipment.
Experience writing and implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions and delivering training on said SOPs and Work Instructions.
Experience working with and presenting information to external customers.
