We're embarking on an ambitious digital transformation to elevate our ecommerce platform and custom design studio, and we're seeking a Shopify Website Designer & Developer to lead this exciting initiative.
The Role:
You will be instrumental in modernizing ModernRugs.com and MR Design Studio, creating a sleek, high-performing Shopify platform that reflects our premium brand. This is an opportunity to blend design creativity with technical expertise, shaping a digital experience that inspires, educates, and converts. This role reports directly to the CEO and Head of Strategy & Growth Operations. We are prioritizing in-person candidates, but are open to remote.
What You'll Do:
Discovery & Planning
Collaborate with leadership to refine website objectives, ensuring alignment with brand values and user experience goals.
Conduct competitive analysis and develop a detailed site architecture and content matrix.
Partner with leadership and designers to plan a seamless navigation flow between ModernRugs.com and MR Design Studio.
Design
Develop wireframes and high-fidelity designs that convey luxury, modernity, and functionality.
Incorporate thoughtful visuals and subtle animations to enhance storytelling without overwhelming users.
Ensure mobile-first responsiveness and inclusive design for diverse audiences.
Development
Build and optimize a robust Shopify platform, integrating advanced filtering, product search, and responsive front-end designs.
Create custom inquiry forms for MR Design Studio to facilitate seamless communication with clients.
Implement a scalable back-end structure to support e-commerce and custom design services.
We have 2 development junior associates who can support.
Content Integration & Launch
Collaborate with strategic leadership & design to integrate SEO-optimized content and high-quality imagery.
Conduct rigorous testing for usability, performance, and cross-device compatibility.
Manage the soft and public launches, ensuring a polished, bug-free experience.
Post-Launch Optimization
Set up analytics tools to track user behavior, conversions, and inquiries.
Continuously refine the website based on user feedback and emerging digital best practices.
What We're Looking For:
Required Skills & Experience
Expertise in Shopify Development: Proficiency in Liquid, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Shopify app integrations.
E-commerce Optimization: Deep understanding of e-commerce best practices, including product filtering, navigation, and checkout flow.
Project Management: Ability to oversee complex projects from concept to launch, meeting deadlines with precision.
Collaborative Mindset: Comfort working closely with stakeholders, content creators, and designers to bring a unified vision to life.
Attention to Detail: A commitment to delivering pixel-perfect designs and error-free functionality.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience designing for luxury brands or high-end e-commerce platforms.
Knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive design principles.
Familiarity with SEO and digital marketing strategies for e-commerce.
Strong portfolio showcasing Shopify projects with a focus on high-quality visual storytelling.
