Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Materials Manager is accountable for creating and maintaining an efficient production schedule for high volume Fluff Pad Converting/Manufacturing operation in Grenada, MS. The Materials Manager will develop inventory planning strategies ensuring the production and supply of finished goods for on-time shipments. The Materials Manager is central to the daily operation of the business and will be expected to network with key internal and external constituents keeping pace with workload demands. Candidate must possess a strong analytical and technical skillset.

RESPONSIBILITES / DUTIES:
  • Plans and manages the plant production schedule to best utilize the company's productive capacity.
  • Adjusts production plan during shift as needed in response to product quality issues, shorts, or staffing levels.
  • Minimize downtime by maintaining a full view of production activities in progress, proactively spotting issues, and problem solving in advance of any potential production shutdowns.
  • Communicate production plans, revisions, and performance to stakeholders, including manufacturing, support, and business teams.
  • Analyze production capacity and demand to inform strategic decisions and roadmap planning.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and support teams to develop and improve processes, including production batch sizes, material transfer, and controls.
  • Respond to unexpected changes, such as production shortfalls or material shortages, by providing information, impact assessments, and options to downstream shops.
  • Generate and publish production performance metrics and forecasts to identify potential supply chain risks.
  • Coordinate the inbound/outbound of orders at our in-house warehouse
  • Accountable for finished goods inventory levels and service level attainment.
  • Works with Operations to develop attainable schedules, eliminating inefficiencies and improving workflows to meet fill rate targets.
  • Analyzes and reacts to MRP demand signals, adjusting production timing and volume appropriately.
  • Develops run strategies that reduce planned downtime and increase average daily throughput.
  • Mitigates shortages and excess inventory by monitoring finished goods inventory levels and adjusting the production plan accordingly.
  • Interfaces with Sales, Contract Management and core customers to address demand requirements and production timing.
  • Facilitates communication and action to resolve supply constraints and/or bottlenecks.
  • Maintains supply chain critical issues log and conducts root cause analyses resulting in correction action.
  • Reviews item master settings such as safety stock, minimum run size and run frequency.
  • Identifies and communicates critical issues, gaps and constraints to leadership and stakeholders

Experience and Competencies:
  • 3+ years of work experience required in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with an ERP system, preferably IQMS track.
  • Experience in using Microsoft Office, including the ability to create reports, documents, presentations and spreadsheets in MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to both internal and external customers
  • Ability to problem solve and balance priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Organizational skills including the ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
  • Strong regard for product quality and safety standards.
  • Respectful, with a sense of urgency.
