Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Operations Business Analyst to act as a liaison between Operating Business units in our rapidly growing civil engineering company. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of project management principles and experience working with Deltek Vision or Deltek Vantagepoint software. This role is critical to ensuring accurate financial management of projects, enhancing operational efficiency, and providing real-time administrative support to revenue-generating business units.
Key Responsibilities:
Liaison Role: Act as the primary interface between Operating Business units, facilitating clear communication and understanding of financial data related to civil engineering projects.
Project Tracking: Monitor project budgets, expenses, time inputs, invoicing, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
Financial Analysis: Analyze business unit-level financial performance and operational metrics, provide insights, and assist in the development of budgets, cost controls, and revenue forecasts. Monitor forecasts, actuals, and variances, ensuring accurate and timely weekly and monthly reporting.
System Management: Leverage and master Deltek Vision or Deltek Vantagepoint project-based ERP software to ensure proper setup and maintenance of project financial data in support of assigned operational business units.
Reporting: Prepare detailed financial reports for Business Unit project managers and executives, providing insights on data accuracy, project performance, billing, and invoicing.
Process Improvement: Proactively identify and implement enhancements in business processes, project tracking, and reporting to boost efficiency. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline workflows, and develop and maintain clear, comprehensive documentation for all procedures.
Support Business Units: Provide financial guidance and support to operational teams, helping them understand financial impacts and optimize project data input efforts and accuracy.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
1-3 years of experience as a Business Analyst, Financial Analyst, or similar role in a project-based environment, preferably in civil engineering.
Strong knowledge of project accounting principles, including revenue recognition, cost allocation, and WIP (Work In Progress) reporting.
Experience with ERP systems and integrating finance and project accounting software.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, data analysis, financial modeling).
Experience in financial reporting and budgeting for large, complex projects.
Ability to analyze and interpret data and provide actionable recommendations.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities and a focus on accuracy and dependable metrics.
Preferred Skills:
Knowledge of civil engineering project workflows and operations is a plus.
Experience in Deltek Vision or Deltek Vantagepoint software is a differentiating plus.
Experience with TxDOT or Municipal Agencies is a plus
