About the Role:
The Plant Manager, BioPharma Center of Excellence is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a manufacturing facility. You'll be responsible for managing production, leadership of site, quality control, driving collaborative and compliant leadership throughout the site and aligning globally on products and services for the BioPharma market as well as LifeScience Solutions BU.
Responsibilities:
Develop a strategic manufacturing/capability plan to meet the market needs and organization's overall strategic goals and objectives
Business Management: Contribute to manufacturing strategy of the BU
Act as a member to the leadership team for the BU LifeScience Solutions
Establish a business plan for the site to positively contribute to the business unit goals and objectives and the overall BA
Managing Production: Ensure that production processes run smoothly, efficiently and safely
Establish goals and hold team accountable to achieve desired outcomes
Provide monthly reports to communicate the financial, KPI and overall management performance
Support manufacturing process initiatives that foster the growth and sustainment of a Lean culture
Establish and champion a 5S protocol for the site
Global Alignment: Ensure global alignment of the manufacturing processes
Work across the BU with other manufacturing sites dedicated to the BioPharma market to ensure consistency of processes, materials and quality to provide global customers with a globally consistent product portfolio
Drive Talent Management: Partner with Human Resources to determine talent needs, improve employee engagement, performance management and overall alignment to the business unit's organizational structure
Demonstrate effective leadership in supporting employee engagement efforts and communication
Conduct quarterly and monthly communication meetings to review performance, production, project status and initiatives
Act as a positive influence to the culture of the site
Quality Control: Maintain and improve quality control procedures to meet company expectations
Collaborate with quality and regulatory team to ensure SOPs are followed, corrective actions are implemented, and repeated occurrences are resolved timely
Perform process audits to monitor procedure and policy conformance
Budget Management: Monitor and control production budgets to ensure cost effectiveness
Motivate team to generate sales revenue and profits to meet or exceed budget expectations
Ensure CapEx projects are completed on time and in budget
Compliance: Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations
Continuous Improvement: Actively lead initiatives to optimize production efficiency and reduce costs to ensure the site remains competitive in the market
Coordination: Work with cross functional departments to ensure seamless workflow and communication
Collaborate with shared services and other sites to deliver projects and initiatives
Collaborate across functional areas to implement needed improvements (e.g., tools, equipment, procedures, forms, training materials, etc.)
Center of Excellence for BioPharma: Support business development of the site
In collaboration with the commercial team, support the development of the center of excellence to drive growth for both the site and the BU/BA
Ensure business development is done timely by working in collaboration with the new product development team (both on-site and central team members)
Ensure the site is visitor-ready at all times and ready to showcase the capabilities of the site
Education + Experience:
REQUIRED:
Four-year degree in engineering, operations management or any related field
Eight years' operations experience
Five years' experience leading a team
Experience with Lean Sigma methodologies
DESIRED:
MBA or master's degree in related field
Medical and clean room experience
5+ years operations management
Experience with clean room/medical device manufacturing
