Job Summary
The Director of Learning & Development works directly with management and executive leadership to develop training for all levels of employees within the Company and is responsible for the Company's strategic learning initiatives. The role is an integral part in ensuring the Company has well-trained and skilled workers, properly trained managers, and programs that support and grow leadership knowledge, skills, and abilities. The role demands excellent communication skills, technical proficiency with Learning Management Systems (LMS), curriculum development, and experience with adult learning concepts. This position reports to the Vice President, Human Resources, Safety, and Training and will have 2 or more direct reports.
Essential Job Responsibilities: • Have reliable attendance and punctuality. • Develop and implement a strategic plan for learning and development that aligns with organizational goals. This involves assessing current competencies, identifying skill gaps, and forecasting future needs. • Design, develop, and oversee the execution of training curricula that cater to different roles within the organization. Programs can include onboarding, technical skills training, leadership development, and compliance training. • Effectively deal with stressful situations and deadlines. • Work closely with other departments to understand their training needs, tailor programs accordingly, and ensure cohesive talent development efforts across the organization. • Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues within the LMS. • Continuous assessment and improvement of learning programs based on feedback and performance data. Use various assessment tools to measure learning outcomes and adjust programs as needed. ? Ensure accurate training records are maintained for compliance. • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements • Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred. Relevant work experience may substitute for formal education. • 7+ years of experience as a director or leadership role for a company with 1,000 + employees is desired. • Relevant certifications are beneficial (e.g., Certified Professional in Training Management or Development -CPTM or CPTD). • Knowledge of software like Articulate 360, Adobe Captivate, or Lectora for creating interactive and engaging online courses is a plus. • Proficiency in diagnosing and troubleshooting software and hardware issues. • Strong knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and Office suite. • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts in user-friendly language. • Customer service focus that delivers high-quality support services. • Flexibility to adapt to changing technologies and willingness to upgrade skills continuously. • Self-starter with solid time/project management skills and proven ability to drive delivery, mitigate risk, and resolve issues. • Strong communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills. • Ability to travel up to 25%, with the possibility of several overnight travel requirements.
