Scope of Position
The M365 Product Owner is responsible for overseeing and managing the Microsoft 365 (M365) product portfolio within the organization. This role involves delivering on the product strategy, collaborating with stakeholders, and ensuring successful delivery and continuous improvement of services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in product management, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of technology.
As a product owner you will be responsible for setting, prioritizing, and accepting the work generated by a team in order to ensure the highest value work to the org/customer is being delivered.
The product owner will need to identify user needs and understand specific areas of customer's business applications or infrastructure, ensure effective delivery, work with cross-functional teams to manage product releases and deliver products that help make the company vision reality. Serves as the area leader in product release planning, design, development, operational readiness and support for M365 services. Manages projects involving high business risk, scope and impact the organization leads and facilitates strategic projects and is involved in evaluating and researching new and existing products, procedures, workflows and needs. Individuals provide direction and insight to leaders, peers and team members regarding the identification and alignment of strategic programs with evolving information technology/business opportunities. Recognized across the organization for expertise and sought as a source for resolution unique on most complex initiative
Duties and Responsibilities
Technical Product Direction and Management (60%)
The duties of this position are performed with little supervision. Most assignments will be completed independently, and some are subject to periodic review and approval.
Manages innovation development to advance enterprise technology and or technology processes, increase the organizational and customer value
Stakeholder Collaboration:
Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and understand business needs.
Communicate product vision and updates to stakeholders, ensuring alignment and buy-in.
Act as the primary liaison between business units, IT teams, and external vendors.
Product Development and Delivery:
Oversee the development and implementation of M365 features and enhancements.
Ensure that product development activities are aligned with scope, schedule, and budget.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products on time.
Agile and DevOps Practices:
Implement Agile methodologies and DevOps practices t0 streamline product development.
Facilitate sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
Ensure continuous integration and delivery processes are in place.
User Experience and Support:
Monitor user feedback and usage metrics to identify areas for improvement.
Ensure a seamless user experience by addressing issues and implementing enhancements.
Provide training and support tend-users and internal teams.
Compliance and Security:
Ensure that M365 products comply with organizational policies and industry regulations.
Collaborate with security teams to implement and maintain robust security measures.
Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure compliance.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain comprehensive documentation of product features, requirements, and processes.
Generate regular reports on product performance, user adoption, and project status.
Present findings and recommendations to senior management.
Continuous Improvement:
Stay updated with the latest M365 features, updates, and best practices.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes.
Foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation within the team.
Project/Program Management (30%)
Performs as a functional release/program manager as assigned
Ensure project timelines are met
Manages project delivery and outcomes from team
Participates in the advancement of project management methodologies in the department
Holds staff accountable for following Portfolio Management Office rules and guidelines
Documents and completes project tasks as assigned

Reads and responds t(as appropriate) work-related e-mail
Promotes the creation and maintenance of documentation and knowledge to be used by all support teams
Participates in and leads departmental committees

Minimum Qualifications
For Hire
College degree in either Business or Computer Sciences or any other related field
5+ years technology development experience with 5+ in software delivery roles. This experience includes familiarity with software product development life cycles and Agile scrum practices. Experience managing and delivering multiple projects at the same time is also required
Proven track record of delivering data driven solutions with a customer-first mindset
Preferred certifications in one or more of the following: ITIL, PMI, Scrum, Product Owner, Six Sigma/LEAN practices
Demonstrates a fundamental knowledge of various IT technologies and tools
Demonstrated success in communicating with key stakeholders/suppliers at senior levels of the organization
Demonstrated ability to balance competing requirements and interests, keep team focused on top priorities
Established background in launching software or services in partnership with engineering teams and high degree of proficiency in prototyping, iterative development, understanding of Agile principles.
