How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As a Director, IT - Global Engineering Systems you will support a global engineering organization. The position establishes, plans, and drives standard, roadmap, execution and support for the Global IT Engineering Systems department. The position drives software development and integration and owns application portfolio architecture and support. The position is responsible for leading people in terms of performance management, employee career development, department goals and strategic direction. Success in this position requires a well-rounded individual with strong communication skills, strategic and run the business mindset, strong financial acumen, ability to effectively analyze department and business needs, establish priorities, business values, execute feasibility studies, system design, and implementation of assigned IT projects. Additional responsibilities include global budget management, Business Relationship and Vendor Management.

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:
  1. Leads engineering systems standards and roadmap development. Researches and proposes innovative technology and processes to support engineering and other related functions
  2. Identifies and leads engineering portfolio ensuring realistic and aligned business outcome delivery
  3. Collaborates across IT, business functions and outside providers to ensure system architectures are aligned with both business and IT strategies
  4. Creates and delivers executive level presentations that clearly articulate the value to business
  5. Provides leadership, supervision, coaching and mentoring to direct team and other IT partners
  6. Plans and gathers project requirements, manages actual project costs and benefit realization
  7. Organizes and delivers support to all engineering systems related projects and provides process and technical expertise
  8. Contributes to planning and maintenance of annual budgets and tactical plans


What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)

We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:

Required Experience
  • 10+ years of IT experience
  • Proficiency in engineering systems, including PLM, CAD, product configurators design and integration
  • Experience with ERP and Commercial solutions and its integration with Engineering Systems
  • Thorough Knowledge of application development, Web and mobile development beneficial
  • Experience with solution delivery and SDLC practices including waterfall and agile methods
  • Advanced understanding of data principles, architecture and infrastructure
  • Advanced financial acumen, Vendor management and negotiation skills
  • Familiarity with business operations and processes, with deep understanding of business vision and strategy
  • Understanding of all key processes and integration points within the IT department (infrastructure, architecture, applications, security, etc.)
  • Experience leading IT teams, including hiring, development, management, and retention

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • MBA or MS Computer Information Systems a plus
  • Project Management certification a plus
  • Global experience

Education & Certifications
  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in IT or an IT-related field

Travel & Working Environment
  • Global travel required
