Description

We are seeking a highly entrepreneurial, innovative and future-focused leader to build out our Advisory business, focused on working with clients during their most consequential moments in Equity Advisory & Investor Relations, Mergers & Acquisitions, Capital Markets and Special Situations/Crisis and Issues Management.

Responsibilities
  • Develop business strategy including brand positioning, market development, differentiated solution design and marketing
  • Maintain and build business relationships with prospects and clients, including participation in relevant associations, e.g. NIRI and conference attendance
  • Lead and execute across all aspects of client-related work, being viewed as a trusted business advisor in all areas of investor relations at the board, management and Investor Relations Officer level during those most consequential moments
  • Leverage our market-leading investor intelligence capability to enable the development of distinctive client to enable longer-term valuation improvement
  • Develop client solutions that leverage the comprehensive set of cross-disciplinary capabilities to add incremental client value
  • Build a best-in-class thought leadership platform that advances business development and creates clear differentiation in client value delivery/expertise provided to clients through your strategic, unique and impactful perspective
  • Develop Breakwater's client IR strategies that create distinctive and competitive advantage in the face of changing business, sector, valuation and market conditions and tailor strategies as appropriate to elevate valuation
  • Draft and review investor-related communication materials (i.e. press releases, earnings and other conference call scripts, corporate presentations, Q&A sheets, websites and messaging documents)
  • Develop complex client investor relations / financial communications programs including Investor Days and Non-Deal Roadshows
  • Develop and present recommendations based on expert financial analytics and modeling, research, strategic and creative thinking
  • Approach complex decisions impacting Breakwater and Clients in a highly collaborative, transparent and direct way
  • Foster an environment in which commitment to best-in-class solution quality and client satisfaction is a top priority; leads Breakwater to effectively respond to emerging client trends and shape those to result in the client becoming cutting edge
  • Work effectively with Breakwater colleagues to bring the best of the firm to support client needs in an integrated team effort

Qualifications
  • Buy-side, sell-side or investment banking experience is preferred; agency and corporate relevant
  • Exceptional and demonstrated understanding of how strategy and business execution impact financial performance, valuation and value creation
  • Strong ability to convey strategic and financial messages in written materials, financial models and data analysis
  • Ability to take complexity and translate effectively; a creative and strategic thinker in the area of reputation management, sees around corners, approaches communications from new angles
  • Superior client relationship building and management skills
  • Financial Acumen: capital markets, accounting and finance, financial modeling, extensive experience with reporting, financial disclosures, quarterly releases, shareholder activism and the regulatory landscape
  • Executive Presence: gravitas, confidence, ability to present to a CEO and Board and to influence them (C-Suite leadership team)
  • Effective Relationship Building: strong relationships with the investors and analysts, financial media a plus
  • Leadership Skills: strong management and organizational skills with the ability to develop and execute multiplatform strategies for clients while working with the client and account teams
  • Bachelor's degree; CFA and/or MBA preferred
  • 15+ years of experience preferred
  • Work at Home potential with client site travel
