Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineer contributes to a team responsible for creating, modifying, and troubleshooting industrial equipment used to produce products. Your responsibilities are to support Operations, R&D, Sales, and Maintenance groups on continuous improvement/develop of new equipment and processes, maintaining and improving existing equipment and increase capabilities for an expanding product line. You will spend your days actively engaging other team members to develop processes and equipment that meet the business needs.
Essential Duties:
Create a culture of safety, increase awareness and compliance to procedures to achieve zero OSHA recordables, implement best practices and improvements regarding industrial hygiene
Develop machine specifications as needed for one-off proprietary equipment; either individually or as part of cross-departmental team; following industry regulations, guidelines and safety standards
Develop functional machine/machine component designs by conducting research, applying knowledge of products, fabrication, assembly, tooling, materials, conferring with equipment vendors and soliciting observations from operators
Excellent drafting skills are required, experience and knowledge of GD&T to create functional drawings, assemblies and BOMs
Create FAT/SAT acceptance criteria confirming equipment meets specifications and quality by developing test matrix, testing finished product and process capabilities, establishing work or quality standards
Actively manage internal and external projects by developing schedules and budgets, resource planning, documentation, develop vendor partnerships, progress reporting, risk assessment and team leadership
Produce engineering documentation such as standardized work procedures, operational manuals and troubleshooting guides
Maintain existing equipment by coordinating with internal maintenance department and/or outside repair services, following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, trade shows, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering from 4 year ABET accredited program
3 - 5 years of experience in Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering
Proficient in 3D modeling, AutoDesk Inventor preferred, and AutoCAD
Familiar with document control, AutoDesk Vault experience preferred
Knowledge of geometric tolerancing and dimensioning
Knowledge of ERP systems
Familiar with safety programs such as Dupont STOP and OSHA compliance
