About the Company - We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Construction Project Manager to oversee the daily operations of our underground utilities construction projects. This key leadership role involves managing the full scope of construction operations, from estimating new jobs and procuring materials to supervising on-site work and leading the workforce. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in construction, strong leadership skills, and a deep understanding of underground utilities, along with the ability to ensure the successful execution of projects within budget, on time, and to the highest quality standards.

About the Role - Key Responsibilities:

  • Estimating and Job Bidding:
  • Review project specifications and blueprints to prepare accurate cost estimates for new jobs.
  • Evaluate project scope and identify potential risks, challenges, and opportunities during the estimating phase.
  • Ensure all proposals and bids align with company standards and profitability goals.
  • Procurement and Material Management:
  • Coordinate the procurement of materials and equipment necessary for project execution.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors to secure the best pricing, delivery times, and product quality.
  • Oversee inventory control and ensure timely delivery of materials to the job site.
  • Manage the budgeting of materials and track usage to prevent excess costs.
  • Staff Management and Development:
  • Lead and manage the construction team, including field crews, foremen, and other personnel.
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels for each project based on project scope and schedule.
  • Provide direction, coaching, and training to staff, ensuring a high level of performance and safety compliance.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and facilitate ongoing professional development.
  • On-Site Supervision and Project Management:
  • Oversee and supervise day-to-day field operations on multiple construction sites.
  • Ensure work is completed according to specifications, safety standards, and timelines.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to field supervisors, ensuring the smooth operation of all jobsites.
  • Address any issues or delays on-site and make decisions to keep projects on track.
  • Safety and Compliance:
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Conduct regular site safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards.
  • Promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility within the workforce.
  • Ensure all necessary permits and licenses are obtained and maintained for each project.
  • Budget and Schedule Management:
  • Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring that costs remain within scope and that projects are completed on time.
  • Monitor project progress, making adjustments to schedules and resources as necessary.
  • Communicate with clients and stakeholders regularly to update on project status, timelines, and any challenges.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (preferred) or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years in a construction management role, with a focus on underground utilities projects.
  • Certifications: OSHA Certification, PMP or relevant project management certifications (a plus).

Required Skills:

  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • In-depth knowledge of underground utility construction methods and materials.
  • Proficient in project management software, estimating tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Ability to visit and navigate construction sites, including inspecting trenches, equipment, and materials.
  • Must be able to work in outdoor and sometimes challenging conditions, including varying weather.
