This position performs work related to the processing of vendor invoices and payments for disbursement of funds and monitors and performs maintenance to the Accounts Payable software module and related on-line sub-ledger systems.
Salary Range: $39,264 - $53,122
Duties & Responsibilities: ESSENTIAL:
Reviews, verifies and reconciles vendor invoices and statements, departmental requests, expense reports, and supporting documentation. Reviews documents to ensure compliance with the organization’s disbursement policies and procedures.
Meets with vendors and internal staff to discuss problem accounts and explain payment procedures, policies and requirements. Reconciles vendor accounts and determines amount owed by/to the organization.
Prioritizes vendor payments to ensure punctual processing of invoices with consideration of prompt payment discounts.
Assists with the design, development, implementation and maintenance of the accounts payable on-line system. Enters information from source documents into the on-line accounts payable system to create a system generated payment voucher and to update the on-line interactive systems.
Analyzes and converts check request purchase requisitions in purchase orders and ensures they meet the compliance standards for the organization’s check requests.
Verifies accuracy of computer generated checks with Accounts Payable support documentation. Schedules, tracks and logs checks, wires and ACH payments for authorized signatures and disbursements including special handling requirements.
Maintains Accounts Payable document control logs and ensures invoices are accounted for and follow the approval routing workflow.

Qualifications:
Associate Degree from an accredited two-year college or 60 semester hours with emphasis in Accounting, Business or similar discipline.
A minimum of five years of experience in a finance/accounting related position requiring analytical skills.
A minimum of five years of experience with computerized Accounts Payable system.
Understands 1099 reporting classification codes to ensure compliance with IRS 1099 reporting regulations and requirements
Proficiency in IRS tax guidelines in coding vendors, invoices and credit card payments for disbursement.
Proficiency in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, advanced Excel skills.
Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
Ability to use sound judgment.
Ability to manage time and workload effectively which includes planning, organizing, and prioritizing with attention to details.
Ability to effectively work under pressure and to work independently with little supervision.
Ability to perform mathematical calculations using algebra, percentages, pro-rate and multiplication, division, addition and subtraction.
Ability to comply with strict documentation procedures and expenditure controls.
Ability to perform continual data entry 95% of an eight hour day with speed and accuracy, and to operate a 10-key calculator by touch
Ability to work extended hours to meet deadlines.
