Position Summary:
As VP, Commercial Relationship Management, you'll operate as the senior originations officer on the team. Contact and act as a relationship manager for the largest transactions, while providing advice and referrals to other team members.
Essential Job Functions:
Maintain staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees. Make recommendations for promotions, transfers, salary increases, etc. Coach, counsel, and discipline employees. Manage performance of direct reports.
Negotiate loan structure and pricing with borrowers and RM's, subject to credit approval authority.
Refer business deposit and retail prospects to sales staff.
Originate loans, and ancillary commercial business to achieve targeted sales goals.
Use credit training to work with Metro credit analysts to prepare extensive written documentation necessary in the loan approval process.
Negotiate loan structure and pricing with borrowers, subject to credit approval authority.
Work with assigned attorneys preparing closing documentation and review same.
Call on members and prospects to generate or upsell share accounts.
Refer prospects to branch staff for account opening.
Refer residential mortgage prospects to Metro's Mortgages Dept.
Refer business deposit and retail prospects to sales staff.
Attend Chamber of Commerce, charitable and professional organization meetings to strengthen Metro brand in the commercial marketplace and develop new business.
Make presentations to such organizations to further Metro brand identification.
Maintain good relationships with members in managing an assigned loan portfolio.
Stay in contact with assigned existing members to determine their business and personal financial needs.
Generate new business from this assigned loan portfolio.
Coordinate loan renewal and loan review process for assigned portfolio.
Contact member-borrowers about their maturing loans at Metro Credit Union.
Negotiate renewal of loans with appropriate credit structure and pricing.
Obtain annual financial statements and spearhead annual reviews, working with credit analysts.
Manage staff including Relationship Managers.
Requirements:
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent combination of education and work experience; MBA strongly preferred.
Minimum 10 years' experience as commercial relationship manager with demonstrated sales success strongly preferred.
Extensive C&I contacts and recognized as expert in the market they serve Commercial and Industrial or Commercial Real Estate strongly preferred
Skills/Knowledge/Certifications
Exceptional relationship management skills with strong follow through and strong sales and closing skills.
Superb communication skills, both verbal and written. Strong influencing skills, with ability to make internal and external presentations and manage meetings with financially sophisticated members.
Demonstrated skills at balancing multiple projects at the same time and meeting deadlines.
Ability to analyze and synthesize financial statements, business plans, environmental reporting and real estate appraisals. Adept at preparation of written memoranda.
Proven PC skills, knowledge of Loan Vantage preferred.
Work Environment:
Position is eligible for Hybrid Work Agreement, minimum of one (1) day/week in Chelsea office
