The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Department (ED) is responsible for providing direct and indirect patient care services, within the scope of practice, under the supervision and direction of the Director. This position demands a professional who thrives in fast-paced environments, excels in critical thinking, and is committed to exceptional patient care in emergent situations. Our ED RNs plays a pivotal role is assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for patients of all ages presenting with a wide range of conditions. The RN must adhere to the hospitals policies and procedures, maintain accurate patient records, and ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and their families.
Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients presenting to the ED, identifying, and prioritizing care needs promptly. Initiate appropriate interventions and provide nursing care based on clinical judgments and standards of care. Administer medications, treatments, and perform procedures competently as ordered by the physician, adhering to hospital policies and protocols. Monitor patient responses to treatments and adjust nursing care plans as necessary. Provide emotional support and education to patients and their families about conditions, treatment plans, and preventive measures. Ensure accurate documentation of patient care, interventions, and evaluations in the patients electronic medical record. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and professional development. Adhere to all hospital policies, nursing standards, and regulatory requirements to ensure a safe and effective care environment. Assist in the development and implementation of ED policies and procedures to improve patient care and workflow efficiency. Provide support and guidance to nursing assistants and other staff members. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements:
Graduate from an accredited school of nursing and maintain current licensure as a Registered Nurse by the State of Missouri or compact licensure.Maintain Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Life Support (ALS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) issued by the American Heart Association or preapproved provider.TNCC and ESI certification is required but may be obtained within the first year of employment.Previous experience in the ED setting preferred.
