Our current hybrid approach requires staff to work onsite a minimum of two days each week, every Tuesday and one other day, to be determined by their business unit. Hybrid staff are also welcome to come in additional days each week or may be asked to come in on other days by their manager.

Department Overview

The Board Relations team operates under the Chief of Staff and Board Relations and is responsible for the onboarding, stewardship, and governance of the GBH Board of Trustees and Board of Advisors. This includes overseeing and managing all board and committee activities, communication with board members, and ensuring compliance with open meeting law requirements.

Job Overview

The Board Relations Assistant reports to the Assistant Director of Board Relations. The role supports the Board Relations department in various activities related to the management of the Board of Trustees and Board of Advisors, including communications, meeting preparation, and administrative tasks. This role requires effective prioritization, strong communication skills, high organizational capacity, and the ability to handle diverse responsibilities. This position is located in Boston, MA, and requires on-site presence

What you get to do:

Database Management:

  • Maintain and update board and donor information in Rev CRM and SharePoint systems

Communications:


  • Prepare materials and draft communications for the Board Relations team

  • Compile briefing documents for board members meeting with senior leadership

Stewardship and Engagement


  • Serve as a point of contact for board members by answering questions, addressing requests, and providing support at meetings and events.

  • Welcome board members at meetings and events, ensuring a positive experience

Meetings and Events


  • Assist with planning and execution of board-related events, collaborating with colleagues across the foundation to organize reservations, schedules, and materials.

  • Coordinate logistics for board and committee meetings, including scheduling, setup, supplies, and detailed note-taking.

  • Oversee the research request process to ensure timely and accurate responses.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with the Board Relations Assistant Director to support Advisor Board initiatives

What skills you need:



  • Strong relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders


  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.


  • Experience with databases, preferably Rev CRM and SharePoint systems


  • Exceptional skills in judgment, discretion, critical thinking, analysis, communication, organization, and attention to detail.


  • Proactive mindset with the ability to anticipate needs, take initiative, and implement solutions


  • Process-oriented with a focus on efficiency and accuracy.

  • Demonstrates flexibility, discretion, and a commitment to confidentiality.

Education and Experience



  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent professional experience.

  • 0-2 years of related or transferable experience


  • Familiarity with nonprofit or for-profit boards and donors is a plus.
