Salary: $130,000 - $140,000 per year
Job Summary:

Sierra Valley Rehab Center, a skilled nursing facility in Porterville, CA, is seeking an experienced and compassionate Director of Nursing (DON) to lead and oversee all nursing operations. The DON will play a critical role in maintaining high standards of patient care, managing and developing nursing staff, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. This leadership role requires a dynamic individual dedicated to quality resident care and professional staff development.
Key Responsibilities:



  • Leadership & Oversight: Direct, supervise, and support the nursing staff to ensure high-quality patient care and adherence to facility standards.


  • Care Quality: Develop, implement, and monitor protocols to maintain and enhance the quality of care and improve patient outcomes.


  • Compliance: Ensure the facility and nursing practices comply with federal and state regulations, including those specific to skilled nursing facilities.


  • Staff Development: Oversee the recruitment, training, and professional growth of nursing staff, creating a supportive and growth-oriented work environment.


  • Budget Management: Manage the nursing department's budget, ensuring resources are used effectively to maintain staffing levels and provide necessary equipment and supplies.


  • Resident & Family Relations: Act as a point of contact for residents and their families, addressing concerns with empathy and ensuring satisfaction with care services.


  • Collaboration: Work closely with the facility administrator, physicians, and department heads to coordinate and optimize resident care.


  • Policy Development: Establish, review, and enforce facility policies to uphold a culture of safety, respect, and professionalism.


  • Quality Improvement: Lead quality improvement initiatives and participate in quality assurance activities to continually enhance care standards.

Qualifications:


  • Current RN license in good standing in the state of California.


  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nursing or a related field preferred.

  • Minimum 5 years of nursing experience in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.

  • Strong knowledge of state and federal regulations governing skilled nursing facilities.

  • Proven ability to manage budgets, resources, and staff effectively.

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, with a strong commitment to compassionate, resident-centered care.

  • Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) and documentation practices.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and move around the facility for extended periods.

  • Ability to occasionally lift or move objects up to 25 pounds.
