Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing routine laboratory functions including (but not limited to) maintaining laboratory inventory, cell lines, and assisting with purchasing orders. In addition, the technician will assist in research that involves isolation of antibodies from mouse or human cell lines, produce and purify recombinant antibodies, and characterize those antibodies for their biological activities;
The person will:
Perform a moderate number of simple or moderate technical procedures;
Require occasional guidance;
Occasionally be responsible for ordering routine supplies;
Rarely modify technical procedures;
Rarely train other lab members;
Rarely guide other lab members;
A simple / limited understanding of scientific literature and the research goals and rationale is required;
Occasionally analyze data;
Rarely interpret data;
Rarely make written contributions to papers and grant proposals.*
Qualifications
Required:
Required to have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in a related science or equivalent skills and related experience, and zero to two years of related experience.
Preferred:
M.S. strongly preferred.
1 to 2 years in general lab work and cell culture preferred.
Background in Molecular Biology a plus.
Should be able to calculate concentrations and prepare reagents correctly.
Organizational skills, detailed oriented, record keeping and initiative is preferred.
