Job Summary: The Research Specialist PT works with departmental staff to design and conduct research projects on a part-time basis.
Additional Department Summary: The Department of Mechanical Engineering at The University of Alabama is seeking candidates for a Temporary Research Specialist position. This position is available to individuals with research interests in materials science and process-microstructure-property relationship. Demonstrates a record of academic achievement in research. Conducts research in the area of transmission electron microscopy (TEM) of nickel-based superalloys under the supervision of Dr. Keivan Davami. The goal is to explore and understand the strengthening and precipitate interactions.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher.
Skills and Knowledge: Ability to conduct scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) as well as TEM sample preparation using a focused ion beam (FIB). Established record of peer-reviewed publications in the materials science field.
Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. or other terminal degree in Mechanical or Materials Engineering or a closely related field. Experience in proposal writing.
