Assists in training and oversees employees and assures that employees have the equipment and supplies they need to perform their tasks. Assists Shift Leader and/or Supervisor with the responsibility for the proper functioning of the Environmental Services Department.
Essential Functions:
Assumes shift responsibility in the absence of the Supervisor/Shift Leader as outlined in the Supervisor CBE.
Inspects departmental cleaning equipment to ensure their safe and proper functioning. Reports damaged and/or faulty equipment to Supervisor for immediate repair. Controls the flow of equipment to ensure that employees can perform their tasks.
Monitors departmental supplies and informs Shift Leader/Supervisor when supplies are running below par levels.
Monitors and restocks supplies on patient units as needed.
Trains employees on the proper cleaning methods and techniques as outlined in departmental policies and procedures manual. Observes employees as they work, identifies and communicates practices needing improvement and retrains accordingly.
Inspects the work of others daily to ensure that departmental quality standards are met and to ensure that proper sanitary and safety procedures are used. Communicates improvement opportunities to Supervisor/Manager to facilitate the creation/revision of departmental training program(s).
Identifies and/or responds to customer needs in a timely fashion.
Identifies when patient(s) may be in need of clinical care and notifies appropriate personnel.
Performs routine environmental services tasks and special assignments as outlined by departmental guidelines and as outlined in the Environmental Service Worker CBE and Project Worker CBE.
Ensures productivity requirements are achieved.
Ensures JCAHO preparedness at all times.
Interfaces with other clinical and non-clinical departments to coordinate work efforts.
Ensures discharge accuracy and timely response utilizing the Premise System.

May update the departmental computer database for discharge information.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Education
High school diploma or equivalent experience
Experience
2 years of housekeeping experience in a health care setting required
Demonstrated knowledge of the proper use of chemicals and proper dilution ratios
Demonstrated knowledge of routine environmental services work and special work assignments
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others in a customer-focused environment
Knowledge/Skill
Ability to understand and follow directions
Ability to communicate and make yourself understood
Ability to use computer applications such as Bed Express, Meditech, Microsoft Windows/Office/Outlook
