The Mass General Brigham Office of the Chief Medical Officer (OCMO) is beginning a years-long journey to implement High Reliability Organization (HRO) principles to improve our quality performance so that we can achieve the best health outcomes for our patients. The MGB OCMO is seeking a senior clinical leader who will create and lead the new HRO Unit for the system.
Reporting to the Vice President for Clinical Performance, the Clinical Director of High Reliability will lead a cross-functional team that will roll out a new High Reliability operating model across Mass General Brigham. Functions include: HRO training and enablement, quality performance data visualization, and front-line LEAN process improvement education and implementation.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
HRO Implementation
Lead team charged with HRO transformation across entire organization
Organize and execute Equity-Informed HRO training for thousands of employees across MGB
Lead the design and implementation of new clinical process improvement model across MGB for all 12 hospitals and hundreds of clinical units
Liaise with key enterprise, hospital, department, and clinical unit leaders to design processes to improve patient outcomes
Develop mechanisms for best practice sharing across units, departments and hospitals
Coordinate with MGB Communications team and OCMO leadership on HRO communication strategy and execution
Measurement
Lead team responsible for front end dashboards/ad-hoc quality reporting and analytics
Design real time process improvement data approach including run charts and other necessary tools for unit-based quality improvement initiatives
Act as interface between business stakeholders and Digital technical teams to ensure data and analytic products are meeting business needs, appropriately defined and operationalized, and continue to deliver value
Create and maintain clinical performance communication process; collaborate with OCMO/Site leaders as needed to define improvement opportunities
Develop evaluation frameworks to measure the effectiveness and resilience of system quality interventions/improvement programs

Qualifications
Qualifications
MD, RN or PharmD
5-7 years experience as manager or director in a related field
Strong knowledge of process improvement methodologies (LEAN, Six Sigma, etc)
Extensive quantitative and analytic experience/capabilities to support data collection, measurement, and analytics (e.g., background in data analytics, biostatistics, and epidemiology, experience in Excel, knowledge of EHR systems, managing databases, etc.)
Experience working with data display for process improvement purposes
A combination of education and experience may be substituted for requirements
