General Summary

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



1. Performs quality CT scans, per clinical protocol, for Radiologist review and interpretation


2. Keeps current in knowledge of state-of-the-art imaging equipment and technology


3. Must maintain compliance with all new procedures/policies within the CT Department


4. Supports referring departments by acting as a resource for clinical expertise pertaining to CT modality.


5. HIPAA awareness and compliance with emphasis on respect of the patients' right to privacy, dignity, and confidentiality


6. Always demonstrates professionalism towards patients and their families as well as fellow employees


7. Keeps work areas organized and neat


8. Maintains inventory of exam room, maintains a clean and safe working environment.


9. Adheres to PPE and infection control requirements.


10. Performs all other duties as assigned.



Technical/Clinical Duties and Responsibilities:



1. Performs CT exams per department, facility, and ACR standards


2. Conducts equipment warm up and Quality Control procedures according to operating procedures established by manufacture's guidelines to ensure effective, calibrated, and safe operation.


3. Informs appropriate personnel when problem in equipment exits, calls service engineers when repair is indicated


4. Confirms exam requisition orders and consults with Radiologist for detailed protocols per patient exam indication, as needed.


5. Properly identifies and escorts patient to CT scanner; assists patient onto scanner; reviews exam screening questionnaire; ensures lab values are within protocol limits, checks for proper IV placement and patency when indicated, positions patient for study, explains procedure, ability to answer questions.


6. Follows exam protocols to match each patient's age, disease and body habitus


7. Enters pertinent information relating to patient and scan specifics into computer, directs specific operation of scan during procedure


8. Sets up necessary supplies/equipment for administration and delivery of IV solution and contrast agents as per departmental policy


9. Monitors patient condition during and immediately post scan with ability to identify complications or adverse reactions.


10. Performs quality CT scans, per clinical protocol, for Radiologist's review and interpretation.


11. Ensures images are transmitted to PACS in entirety.


12. Completes exam in EMR and completes appropriate clinical notes in patient chart.



Hours: 8:30 am to 5:00 pm or 7:30 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday



Qualifications

Required:



  • MA License required and maintained

  • ARRT required

  • Advanced CT registration required

  • Ideal candidate would possess at least three years of experience within a CT Department

  • CPR/BLS certification required

  • IV skills preferred

  • Contrast utilization

  • Completion of a medical imaging program

Preferred:


• Knowledge of anatomy, cross-sectional anatomy, physiology, medical terminology
• Knowledge of the principles of radiation physics
• Knowledge of radiographic positioning and radiographic equipment
• Acquires and maintains knowledge of related topics to include, but not limited to radiation safety, universal precaution, disposal of contaminated material, proper handling of requisitions (both before and after procedure)
• Effective interpersonal and communications skills both verbal and written
Ability to work in fast paced environment s including computer documentation and direct patient care.
• Ability to recognize emergency situations and respond appropriately by using judgement and quick decision making.
• Must possess the ability to assess patient specific data relative to age-specific needs and provide appropriate care.
• Maintains a high standard of professionalism at all times.
