Position Description
The Finish Blade Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the motor grader with the goal of using the blade to create the finish grade. This position is for the 2025 construction season and has an anticipated start date of late April-early May depending on weather.
Duties and responsibilities
Operate the blade used in grading operations
Operate the blade in accordance with company procedures and safety regulations
• Check all fluid levels daily and perform daily walk around inspection, to include greasing as necessary, when operating equipment
Operate the blade in the right direction and angles to prevent accidents and damage of property
Operate the blade in various situations, maintaining proper awareness of one’s surroundings
Grade Staking: ability to read, understand, and set grades
Report needs for large repairs to appropriate parties
All other duties as assigned, delegated, or necessary for operations
Position Requirements
Qualifications
Minimum two years of operating a blade
Experience on multiple pieces of construction equipment (backhoe, dozer, skid steer) preferred
Possess a valid driver’s license
Ability to pass a pre-employment urine drug test and comply with drug and alcohol policies during employment
Working conditions
Outdoor environment subject to changing conditions and temperatures
Occasional exposures to fumes, dust, odors, heights, and loud noises.
May be required to work 60+ hours, 6 days a week
Physical requirements
Verbal, auditory, and written capabilities to effectively communicate in an articulate manner.
Clarity of vision at varying distances to perform various work assignments.
Standing, walking, or sitting for extended periods of time.
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a variety of specialized tools and equipment.
Reaching overhead, above the shoulders, and horizontally.
Occasional bending, kneeling, or crouching.
Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling object(s) weighing up to 50 pounds
