Position Description
Drive a commercially licensed truck for the purpose of hauling various materials and/or equipment to and from specified destinations while performing duties in a safe and efficient manner. This position is for the 2025 construction season and has an anticipated start date of late April-early May depending on weather.
Duties and responsibilities
Perform pre-trip inspection according to DOT regulations. Must be able to kneel, reach, and maneuver under truck with approximately 2-feet of clearance to properly inspect and/or repair truck/trailer
Check all fluid levels daily, fill out daily maintenance checklist, and perform daily walk-around inspection, to include greasing as necessary, of equipment
Maintain driver’s log according to DOT regulations and complete timecards legibly and accurately
Comply with company and DOT Drug & Alcohol regulations
Comply with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations
Follow the supervisor’s instructions on material and/or equipment pickup and delivery procedures
May be required to drive combinations with a variety of trailers such as live bottom, end dump, pups, bottom dump, side dump, flatbed, or lowboy. Must be able to hook and unhook these combinations properly. Must be able to turn leg jacks up and down to lift or drop trailer
All other duties as assigned, delegated, or necessary for operations
Position Requirements
Qualifications
One year of Commercial driving experience preferred
Possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL)
Ability to pass a pre-employment urine drug test and comply with drug and alcohol policies during employment
Working conditions
Outdoor environment subject to changing conditions and temperatures
Occasional exposures to fumes, dust, odors, heights, and loud noises
May be required to work 60+ hours, 6 or more days a week
Physical requirements
Verbal, auditory, and written capabilities to effectively communicate in an articulate manner
Clarity of vision at varying distances to perform various work assignments
Standing, walking, or sitting for extended periods of time
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a variety of specialized tools and equipment
Reaching overhead, above the shoulders, and horizontally
Occasional bending, kneeling, or crouching
Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling object(s) weighing up to 50 pounds
