Position Summary:

The Sales Application Engineer (SAE) is an entry-level role, ideal for candidates with a strong foundation in mechanical engineering, either through career experience or academic background, and proficient use of SolidWorks for 3D engineering and design. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, this role is instrumental in fostering and developing relationships with assigned customer accounts. The SAE will apply a customer-centric lens to all design and engineering requests, ensuring that solutions align with specific customer requirements and expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Knowledge Resource:
  • Develop a thorough understanding of ScaleWRX containment products and solutions.
  • Act as a technical knowledge resource for containment manufacturing, staying informed on product updates and manufacturing best practices.
  • Understand capabilities and limitations of existing manufacturing infrastructure.

Customer-Focused Design: Working in tandem with the Sales Team, engage with assigned accounts to understand detailed customer applications, proposing and refining containment design solutions tailored to meet each customer's unique needs.

Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong customer relationships, acting as a technical resource for assigned accounts and supporting account-specific requirements.

Cost & Quotation Management: Collaborate with procurement and manufacturing staff to understand cost structures. Prepare and generate accurate sales quotations, including technical and costing documentation.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Work closely with manufacturing to ensure designs are clear, cut sheets are accurate, and QC feedback is incorporated into future designs.
  • Collaborate with the installation team to ensure designs are install-friendly and update versions based on installation feedback.

Project Milestone Adherence: Ensure project milestones are met on schedule, coordinating as necessary to address any potential delays or issues.

Design & Documentation Support: Provide production with necessary designs and documentation, assisting with analysis, and recommending adjustments as needed.

Process Improvement: Review and refine router packets for work orders, ensuring all customer-furnished and necessary information is present for comprehensive work instructions.

Quality Assurance Support: Assist the quality department in the development of inspection processes, particularly for complex or non-standard designs.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or another engineering related field preferred.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D design and engineering. Proficiency in another 3D application may be considered.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop effective customer relationships.
  • Basic understanding of cost structure and quotations.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to delivering high-quality solutions.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams (R&D, manufacturing, and installation).
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet project milestones on schedule.
