Greater Lawrence Technical School (GLTS) is hiring an Employer Engagement Manager to create a network of employer partners excited about hiring graduates of the GLTS workforce development programs. Nearly 200 Merrimack Valley adults graduate each year from a variety of construction, automotive and advanced manufacturing technical trainings. Seventy five students graduate from the After Dark Program. The Employment Engagement Manager will serve as a matchmaker between employers and new graduates to create a win-win situation where businesses can grow and new hires can start their career trajectory!
BACKGROUND:
Greater Lawrence Technical School is a vocational high school committed to expanding access to lucrative technical careers through offering training opportunities for under-served youth and adults. We operate the After Dark Program for 11th and 12th graders to gain vocational training in one of six career technical education areas. We also offer workforce development trainings to adults in thirteen different technical areas.
The Employer Engagement Manager will establish and nurture a flourishing employer ecosystem to ensure industry informed trainings, on-going employer relationships, and robust job placement and retention for our graduates.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Employer facing responsibilities: Marketing and promoting Greater Lawrence Technical School graduates to employers. Organize ways for employers to connect with graduates such as job referrals, recruitments, job fairs, interviews and apprenticeships. Creating on-going networking and connecting opportunities for employers to contribute to the vitality of the After Dark and adult workforce development programs.
Trainee facing responsibilities: Understand trainee career aspirations and challenges, and serves as a matchmaker to achieve student placement. Remains connected with graduates during initial employment period to promote retention and communication of employment results.
The Employer Engagement Manager will work year-round full time and will be eligible for GLTS benefits. The position is grant funded, with secured funding for the foreseeable future.
The schedule will include two evenings per week to coincide with the technical training schedule.
