Provides direct patient care and other nursing services to patients prior to and following ambulatory surgical procedures by applying and documenting nursing processes to include assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation. Job Duties

Accurately and completely documents patient care in accordance with facility policy/procedures and state standards, is knowledgeable to chart by EMR or paper record, and assists in scanning, indexing, reviewing for QA, and/or purging paper charts.
Provides thorough pre-op patient care; including admission assessment, and competently starts IV’s per clean technique following infection control guidelines.
Provides post-op care, including assessment and discharge instructions.
Competently observes sterile field guidelines and sterilization guidelines as outlined in the infection Control Policy Manual and follows good hand hygiene, safe sharps, and BSC guidelines.
Administer medication as appropriate, documents; follows policy/procedure in the storage and documentation of medications and prepares medications as directed following infection control guidelines as necessary.
Knowledgeable in the use of monitors and other medical equipment used in the pre-op, post-op, and intra-op areas, and ensures safe and proper use of all equipment.
Responsible for the safety, privacy, and comfort of the patient during pre-op, post-op, intra-op, and transport, and practices universal precautions and infection control measures consistently.
Assists with triage of patient phone calls and care coordination, completes pre-op patient phone calls and chart preparation as needed, completes follow-up calls and care coordination. And utilizes patient assessment to determine appropriate nursing interventions with all calls and care.
The Registered Nurse assists the Director of Nursing and Nurse Manager with compliance of state and federal code, assures timely and thorough completion of logs, assists with policy development or updating, and accepts and completes non-nursing tasks as is appropriate to complete functioning of the ambulatory surgery center.

Job Qualifications and Requirements
NYS Registered Nurse
2 -5 years experience in a perioperative setting, preferred
BLS and ACLS certified
Physical Demands Activity includes balancing, lifting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, pushing, pulling, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, repetitive motions, constant walking and heavy work. Finger and hand dexterity and visual and aural acuity and olfactory acuity to recognize changes in patient's condition.
