Job Description:
Lead Peeler Operator leads the Operation of the pole shaver and related system components in a productive, efficient and safe manner.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Processes barkie poles through shaving machine, clean bark removal and smooth shaves poles.
- Maintains shaver system equipment including daily service of parts, grease, inspect, and cleaning.
- Changes and maintains cutter parts, properly sets and calibrates knives for optimum efficiency.
- Secures operating systems by established start-up and shut-down procedures.
- Documents and reports quality, mechanical and operations production to the supervisor.
- Assists in maintenance and repair of system equipment as required.
- Assists in receipt of inbound materials, tally and marks loads, and records information.
- Assists in inspection and reclassification of round stock as required.
- Assists in loading and unloading of products, sets dunnage, loads trucks, rail cars and bands loads.
- Assists in cutting, loading and shipment of salvage logs and firewood.
- Communicates production quality concerns with appropriate individuals.
- Participates and contributes to company safety program.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or GED preferred
- Experience: Scaling experience and peeler experience is helpful; Experience with minor mechanical repairs, hydraulics, and electrical preferred.
- License/Certification: Mobile Equipment certification preferred

- Good eye/hand coordination.

- Able to diagnose and trouble shoot potential issues.
- Knowledge of ANSI standards preferred
- Knowledge of grading, defect, species
