Digital Cutting Position Summary The Digital Cutting Lead will oversee the daily operations of the digital cutting department, ensuring that all cutting jobs are completed accurately, efficiently, and within deadlines. The role requires hands-on experience with digital cutting equipment, excellent problem-solving skills, and a strong understanding of material handling and cutting techniques. Essential Functions Lead and manage the digital cutting team to ensure the production schedule is met. Operate and maintain digital cutting equipment (e.g., Zund, Elitron, laser cutters, or similar). Set up and configure machines, including adjusting settings for specific materials and designs. Inspect and troubleshoot equipment to minimize downtime and ensure maximum efficiency. Review and interpret cut files, cut patterns, and design specifications. Ensure material waste is minimized and cutting processes are optimized. Collaborate with design, production, and quality control teams to ensure seamless workflow and high-quality output. Maintain a safe and organized work environment, adhering to all safety protocols and best practices. Train, mentor, and provide technical support to junior operators and team members. Monitor machine performance and conduct regular maintenance to ensure optimal operation. Generate and maintain production reports, tracking performance, efficiency, and materials usage. Education Level High School degree, GED or equivalent degree Experience 5 years proven experience in digital cutting or similar technical roles. Hands-on experience with digital cutting equipment (Zund, Elitron, or other CNC routers, laser cutters, etc.). Strong understanding of materials and their specific cutting requirements (e.g., corrugate, plastics, SBS). Familiarity with Zund software and digital file preparation. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Strong leadership and team management abilities. Ability to read and interpret cut file, and work orders. Knowledge of industry best practices for safety, quality control, and efficiency. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines. Strong communication skills and attention to detail. Computer Skills Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel. Additional Requirements Knowledge of: Ability to lift and move materials (up to 40 lbs). Ability to stand for long periods and work in a production environment.
