Provide instruction in cognitive, motor skills, feeding, self-help, and behavior control as directed by the teacher.
Maintain the health and safety of physically handicapped students by being aware of their environment and potential hazards.
Assist students with personal hygiene, including washing, toileting, and changing diapers and clothing.
Monitor and manage student behavior in accordance with established guidelines.
Assist specialists with physical development activities.
Prepare students for mainstreamed classes according to established procedures.
Attend training and in-services related to medical interventions and instructional programs.
Assist students with braces and other orthopedic equipment to lift, position, and reposition them.
Maintain a variety of records related to student progress.
Implement positive behavior intervention support policies.
Collaborate with case workers, general education teachers, and other staff.
Assist students in social interactions.
Work cooperatively with others and independently as needed.
Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications & Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Must have experience with children, students, general caregiving of any age, or behavioral health.
First Aid Certificate including CPR (just needs to obtain before start date)
Own reliable transportation (car)
