Role Title: IS Computer Support Technician

Work Location: Onsite in Richland, WA

Duration: 6+ month contract

Under general supervision, the IS Computer Support Technician will support the workstation deployment project. Responsibilities include inventory management, imaging new machines for deployment, handling the return of lifecycle-completed computers, preparing devices for e-waste disposal, and assisting the IS Solutions Center as needed. The role requires providing prompt and courteous service to users, addressing technical assistance calls related to software application installation, inventory, and deployments. The position involves working in an office environment and moving computers and peripherals as necessary.



Principle Accountabilities:

• Maintain inventory of software and licenses.


• Install, maintain, and support software.


• Assist users with software requests, tracking progress, verifying approval status, and tracking licenses.


• Provide technical system support and assist users with applications and programs.


• Assist IS analysts in system management.


• Provide password support and manage network access and security workgroups.


• Act as the primary customer interface for hardware and software configuration requirements.


• Document and resolve customer computer and network trouble calls, watching for trends and recurring issues.


• Provide advanced technical assistance for IT-related problems, including hardware, software, system compatibility, application operations, connectivity, network, and security issues.


• Maintain the fleet of laptop computers, including software loading and re-imaging.


• Provide administration and support for Remote Secure Access, including tracking approvals, distributing tokens, and assisting users.


• Participate in the Emergency Response team (ERO) and support the biennial refueling outage.

Qualifications:

• AA degree in a computer-related field; OR unrelated AA plus one year of experience; OR, in lieu of a degree, a high school diploma plus three years of directly related Information Systems/Help Desk experience.


• High school diploma or GED required.

• Basic knowledge of client/server infrastructure, computer/help desk support, and local area network and desktop computer architectures.


• Thorough understanding of computer support field duties.


• Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access to Columbia Generating Station.


• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.


• Competent application of computer knowledge.


• Ability to understand and follow written and oral procedures.


• Effective oral and written communication skills for problem-solving and troubleshooting.
