Role description:
Arcadis seeks a Principal HVAC Engineer to join our growing Resilience Water team in Syracuse, NY!
As a Principal HVAC Engineer, you will utilize your expertise and technical knowledge for design and construction to execute a variety of HVAC projects for municipal clients including water and wastewater projects. You will also manage design teams and mentor junior engineers. You will be a critical team member and be expected to support the performance of the Syracuse, Rochester, or Buffalo, NY offices, engage with the broader New York team, and ensure business performance metrics are being met. You will also be responsible for Client Management/Development strategy in the Upstate NY area municipal Water market.

The rate at which we're seeing large-scale, unforeseen events such as floods and wildfires, is becoming more frequent.
Role accountabilities:
In this role, you will lead and/or participate in client development activities, assessing potentials, assisting with position and capture strategies, and proposal and presentation efforts for water/wastewater design projects. You will also work with Area Leader(s) and client Account Leader(s) to develop project scopes and fee estimates, set the best stage for profitable delivery, manage risk, and identify project staff, and related activities. Additional responsibilities include:
Project Management: Manage a range of projects for various clients in the region. Responsibilities will include managing budgets and schedules for each assignment, and leading project teams to meet the project deliverables. This includes providing technical support to project teams, contractors, and clients, and actively participating in project planning and coordination efforts
Design: Contribute to the design and development of mechanical systems for building projects while ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards. You will need to design and engineer building-related systems, including HVAC, hydronics, plumbing, drainage, fire protection, controls and building automation systems; this includes supporting the design of industrial systems such as compressed air, lubrication, and fueling systems, as well as service connections for machine installations.
Collaboration: Work with senior engineers to support the implementation of process engineering systems. Part of this will require coordination with the architectural team and other engineering disciplines, and actively participate in project planning and budgeting
Site Work: Participate in site assessments and reviews to verify the performance and functionality of mechanical systems
Documentation: Assist in the preparation of engineering calculations, reports and staying updated with advancements in mechanical engineering technologies and best practices. You will be expected to take responsibility for the production of construction documents and construction administration for projects, and review and approve technical documentation
QA/QC: Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards during design development, and coordinate with the energy analysis team for compliance with energy standards. This includes conducting quality assurance checks, foster innovation, and drive continuous improvement within the engineering teams

Arcadis offers benefits for full time and part time positions. These benefits include medical, dental, and vision, EAP, 401K, STD, LTD, AD&D, life insurance, paid parental leave, reward & recognition program and optional benefits including wellbeing benefits, adoption assistance and tuition reimbursement. We offer nine paid holidays and 15-20 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $110,000 - $160,000. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
