Mechanical Engineer – Cape Canaveral, FL
Kegman Inc. is a Women Owned/Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business headquartered in Melbourne, FL and provides engineering and technical support services to U.S. Government clients. We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join the team supporting the Office for Advanced Technical Intelligence in Cape Canaveral, FL.

NOTE: This is not a remote/telework job. 

Job Description:
The Mechanical Engineer provides scientific, engineering, and technical assistance to the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), Office for Science and Technology (ST), Office for Advanced Technical Intelligence (ATI). Provide expertise for development of systems, processes, machines, engines, tools, and other mechanically functioning equipment. Provide expertise for design, analysis and usage of heat and mechanical power for the operation of machines and mechanical systems. Provide Aerospace Engineering with a specific focus on the design, construction, and science of both air and space vehicles, primarily on the systems level and is concerned with the science and force of physics particular to the environment of the atmosphere and space.

Responsibilities:
  • Significant experience required using multiple CAD software tools, with demonstrated working proficiency in Solid Works.
  • Must be capable of performing finite modeling with the use of software-based tools. 
  • Must have significant familiarity with the processes and use of 3-D printers.
  • Works with ATI personnel to produce parts using a variety of materials and machines (3D printers, CNC, water jets). Coordinates outsourcing of fabrication to other organizations as needed/directed.
  • Provides QC/QA to parts produced in house and/or externally.
  • Provides support for in house technology initiatives and/or assessment and monitoring of the adequacy and feasibility of technical proposals and on-going projects by other parties in Government, academia, and industry.
  • May require occasional weekend support to evaluate, prepare, and position necessary assets, equipment, and resources for upcoming operations including test events and exercises.
  • May be required to evaluate current situational asset status as they relate to the preparation and functional well-being necessary for use in upcoming events.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to accomplish the ATI mission.

  • Respond to inquiries from customers, management, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
  • Ability to present relevant factors (both verbal and written) so that technical information is understood by non-technical end users
  • Knowledge and experience in the application and adaptation of Commercial-Off- the-Shelf (COTS) products to meet government system requirements
  • Knowledge of standard DoD acquisition regulations, practices and procedures is desired
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities and self-manage production
EDUCATION-EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s plus 3 years directly related experience
OTHER:
  • Must pass a drug test.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Must have ability to be granted a U.S. Government-issued security clearance 
  • Travel may be required
