Faculty within the College of Education at University of Central Missouri support the university’s mission of providing student-centered, quality education and are committed to the success of students. In addition, faculty provide service to their program, department and university, engage in research, scholarship, and professional development activities. During contractual employment, faculty members are expected to be available to assist, engage, and respond to students, colleagues, departmental, college, and institutional needs.
Teaching - The primary responsibility of the faculty is quality teaching in their respective content areas, regardless of delivery format. This entails adequate preparation for courses, effective course design and instruction, and fair and timely evaluation/feedback of student progress. To ensure quality teaching, faculty must be committed to the success of students as well as ongoing assessment of curriculum and of student learning.
The Department of Educational Foundations & Literacy at the University of Central Missouri invites applications for a tenure track Assistant/Associate Professor of Literacy position to begin August 2025. The successful candidate will teach and oversee undergraduate and graduate courses in literacy (primarily online), serve on departmental, college and university committees, assist with advising and mentoring graduate students, engage with scholarly activities that pertain to research, publication, and presentation at professional conferences, contribute to program growth and development as well as continued program assessment, and perform other related duties as assigned. Faculty contractual duties include teaching a full load equivalent to four courses (12 Credit Hours) per semester or the equivalent of 24 Credit Hours per Academic Year.
A completed Doctorate in reading/literacy or a related field from an accredited university is required. Candidates with experience in diagnostic assessment, Science of Reading strategies, integrated literacy approaches, literacy leadership, and experiences with a range of learners, including as a reading or literacy specialist in a PK-12 school are preferred. Current teacher certification preferred
